Le K (Krish Liang)
Artist member since 2024
Toronto, Ontario
Le K (Krish Liang) is an multidisciplinary artist and curator based in Toronto, CA and Guangzhou, CHN. She is a graduate student of IESA, France, specializing in Artistic and Cultural Activities Management. Her work is mainly influenced by Existentialism, Arte Povera, Abstract Expressionism and Brutalism. Since 2021, Krish has been organizing her works through the connection between philosophy and contemporary topics, trying to eliminate any dry philosophical theories, and evoking the unavoidable irrational emotional experience of the solitary individual through the visible contours and textures of a series of mixed media paintings and installations based on ordinary materials, as well as opening up the way to the "sense of self" that lies behind the differentiated responses to the open-ended propositions. Through a segmented research, the artist is currently constructing standards and doubts, identities and relationships, truths and beliefs as the main entry points to show the audience that she will continue to develop her inquiry. The motivation for her work has shifted to attempting to more accurately express and reach out to the complexity of thoughts and emotions that are beyond the reach of language, and each of her works is accompanied by a hangtag with a serial number, which is singular due to the artist's preference, and which conceals her quest for how to face the value of art under the paradigm of a consumerist culture.
